Barkday Treat for Your Pup
DOWNLOAD RECIPE ► Barkday Treat
These bone-afide donuts are part of my mutt-cheline star–approved doggie dessert collection. I hope your pooch loves them as much as Milo does.
Ingredients
The Donuts:
1 cup flour (all-purpose or whole wheat)
1 cup oats (quick oats or pulsed old-fashioned)
½ cup natural peanut butter (xylitol-free)
2 eggs
¾ cup pumpkin purée (plain, not pie filling)
¼ cup water (add gradually for a thick batter)
The Honey Yogurt Glaze:
½ cup plain Greek yogurt (unsweetened)
1–2 teaspoons dog-safe natural honey
Optional: ½ tsp peanut butter or pumpkin for swirl
(Honey is a treat, not a staple, so a little goes a long way.)
Instructions
1. Prep
Preheat oven to 350°F / 175°C.
Lightly grease your donut molds.
2. Make the batter
Whisk together:
eggs
pumpkin
peanut butter
Stir in:
flour
oats
Add water gradually until you get a thick, spoon-able batter (muffin-style, not doughy).
3. Fill molds
Spoon or pipe into molds, filling about ¾ full.
Tap pan gently to settle.
4. Bake
Bake 12–16 minutes (up to 18 for larger molds).
They’re ready when tops are set and spring back lightly.
Cool 5 minutes, then remove and cool completely.
5. Glaze
Stir Greek yogurt and honey until smooth.
Dip each donut top-down into glaze or spread with a spoon.
Optional finishes:
peanut butter drizzle
finely ground oats as “sprinkles”
a tiny pumpkin heart or a little oat “4”
Chill 10–15 minutes to set.
Storage
Fridge: 5–7 days
Freezer (unglazed): up to 2 months
Glaze after thawing for best texture.
Milo-Approved Pro Tips 🐾
If glaze is too thin: add more yogurt
Too thick: add a few drops of water
For extra shine: warm the honey slightly before mixing
For a birthday “cake” donut: stack two, glaze, add one candle for photos only 😉
